After Poppy Day (Narrated)
After Poppy Day – narrated 4
This piece was conceived after seeing a poppy that had been worn by someone, now lying, squashed, on the forecourt of our church the day after Remembrance Sunday. It struck me, that this was like the image of a fallen soldier. I came home and wrote a poem on the subject, which inspired a vocal piece. I subsequently arranged it so that the poem may be read over the music. I actually find this version just as poignant as the sung version.
The original vocal version is also available.
