Lament For Cello

This is a true miniature at just nineteen bars long, which explores the diverse range of this beautiful instrument. It was originally written for the piano for a pupil who had injured her left hand… but to my ears, from the very moment I was writing it and whenever I play it on the piano, I hear the sound of a cello…. so I decided to give it to the real cellists too.

Tiny it is, but fun of emotion.
