Music My Angel, Restore O My Soul duration: 4’
This short piece for male voice choir and flute, with soprano and (small) tenor solos was written for the Lost Chord charity. This charity provides the lifeline of music, that can all too easily be taken for granted. I can not imagine a life without music. Millions, those with dementia in care homes and hospitals, have no such treasure. This charity provides musicians to go into these places, to play for groups or individuals. It has made those unable to walk dance, those who no longer speak, sing and those for whom there was no life save laying in a bed, tap in time to the music.
This touched my heart. I wrote the poem for the charity, and shortly after, this choral piece.

Music My Angel Restore O Thou My Soul centres on thoughts of how someone with dementia’s life, even for a moment, can be enhanced significantly by music, and that is reflected in this uplifting piece.
If any choir thinks they would be able to perform this work, it will indeed spread the word of how important, which we are only now just beginning to realise , that music is for those with dementia. I have seen first hand what a difference it can make. It is nothing short of remarkable. THE LOST CHORD charity does marvellous work in this field. This piece supports their work.
