Winter Suite

Winter Suite (5”)

This suite of three pieces was commissioned for someone’s birthday. As the month of her birthday was November, I decided upon “winter” as the theme. Each movement describes in music atmospheric English winter scenes. Light and ethereal. Suitable for performances or enjoyment at home. This suite won first prize in EPTA UK (European Piano Teachers Association UK) teachers’ composition.

The first movement. Winter, is featured in a winter video on my Youtube channel: suzannemunromusic and is also available on my Spotify album “Inspiration from Nature”. Mist, is available on “Tranquility”.

Further notes on the individual movements can be found in ‘Extended Notes’ notes below, which may be used for programme notes.

The Running Brook

– Running and splashing by the frosted rocks – with water clear, like shining crystal glass.

The movement opens with a repeated left hand quaver pattern: the running brook, over the top of which the right hand plays a slightly varied repeated motive; little splashes of water…
