Music, My Angel

The angel in this piece, is Music; our soul mate and our help, at all times.

The story behind this piece…

It came about, after I was told a story by a pupil, whose daughter, living at the other side of the world, had not been in the best of health. I was told that whilst on holiday with family in Tasmania, they had visited some beautiful caves. The tour guide had asked that, when he put the lights out, so they may experience true darkness, would any one like to sing? Of course, no one volunteered! He put out the light never-the-less. One voice started to sing… she sang “Amazing Grace”. The voice was my pupil’s daughter. The image of someone normally shy, singing “Amazing Grace”, unaccompanied, alone in the darkness made such a profound impression on me, that as soon as the lesson was over, I wrote this piece.

 – A lone voice in the darkness: music, soothing in the darkness; music helping someone in need –

Description

“My angel calls to me, my angel calls me now, calls me to a place far from trouble.

My angel folds her wings about me, she soothes me, walks with me, calling, calling.

She comes with me, travels with me through the dark.

Together, walks with me; we sail, sail the oceans deep, soar through the skies.

My angel calls me now: I am given hope.

My hope is here. We soar through the skies, wings enfold me.

My angel sings with me, my angel holds me in her calm.

We sail the oceans, sail the skies, floating, floating…

Skies of hope”.
