On Heath, In Wood    duration: 2’ 30”

 

This was inspired by a lovely June morning walk with a friend on Ruislip Heath, (UK) and in the woodland there. A beautiful clear morning with azure blue sky. As soon as I arrived home, I wrote a poem inspired by the walk, and the poem, combined with the beauty held in the mind of a fresh June morning on the heath and in the woodland, inspired a piece for children’s youth choir, but  this piece could equally be enjoyed by any treble voice choir. 

 

(In two parts, with occasional split into three).

 

 

 

A tranquil hour upon the heath

In company of dragonflies with diaphanous wings, and butterflies,….

….Sunlight coming through the trees,….

 

 

This piece is also featured as a piano piece in a film “On Heath, in Wood” on my Youtube channel.
