Remembrance (3’ 45”)

These two pieces were improvisations on the subject of remembrance, played during the week of remembrance, in 2018.

I had asked all my piano pupils to play an improvisation on their thoughts on remembrance, with a photograph of “The poppies at the town of London” placed on the piano, for them to reflect on. It was one of the most moving experiences I have shared. All the pupils, aged 7 to 18, had differing ideas and images and some very beautiful, and poignant improvisations were produced. I recorded them, and many of the improvisations were notated, including mine. These were my reflective thoughts…
