This piece was written for a pianist friend, and a friend of his whom I had never met. She was suffering from poor health and sadly was not able to play for an extended length of time, or play anything too challenging with regards to range. My friend was trying to find and arrange pieces that would be manageable by her. I felt sorry for them and so decided to write something specifically to help. 

 

The phrases are relatively short, allowing plenty of time to breathe in between and the range not extensive. It would therefor be very suitable for someone learning the horn or alternatively someone who has limited stamina.

 

It’s very lyrical and contains deliberate quotes from one of my vocal pieces “Joy in Winter” which is in itself, a very uplifting piece.
