The Seasons

This piece was inspired by the words written at the top of the score.

These were written by one of my pupils as part of a musical project we were all doing together; each of us wrote something literary about a favourite season, then each of us selected someone else’s words to give inspiration for a piano composition.

This piece takes us through all seasons, with subtle variations to the theme, changing from the open sound with gentle rising notes at the start of spring, though lazy summer chords,  to a a flurry of autumn leaves, sparklers and to icy flurries of snowflakes…
